Hey Me reflects on 2023 milestones

As we near the end of the year, it is a natural time to take stock and reflect on the events gone by. The highs, the lows and the lessons learnt; it is a key part of how we grow as individuals and collectively.

Here at Hey Me, we celebrated our 6th birthday in August. The business has evolved and grown since its nascent with Amy Jeffs, Founder and MD, back in 2017. We also started the year with some very small team members joining the team, with Katie and Emma from our team welcoming new additions.

Now, with the team spread across the length and breadth of the UK, the company has continued to grow yet hasn’t compromised on its commitment to a flexible, friendly, and open culture. An environment where the team encourage each other to work to the best of their abilities and to learn and adapt where necessary. Hey Me’s low staff turnover is testament to this, as is the evolution of team members as regards career progression and promotions.

From a client perspective, 2023 has certainly made for an interesting and exciting year. Whilst we continue to see many of our clients work with us on a retainer basis, we have also had the opportunity to collaborate with new clients on a more project-based basis, which affords us the chance to dip our toes into new areas.

A great example of this can be seen in the copywriting support we provided to the HIRD Group as part of relaunching their website. This provided us with the chance to work with a new brand, harnessing our skills to create compelling content that will enable them to stand out and drive their brand engagement.

We also began working with global rail technology company Cordel this year, kicking off our messaging workshops in November – an exciting chapter in the Hey Me journey. We look forward to bringing the multi-national organisation’s wealth of rich and dynamic stories to life in the new year.

We also delivered our largest event to date – the REAL alliance day, a conference for 240 people. As any fellow marketing communicators and event planners will know, large scale events such as these can be complex to navigate, with a myriad of challenges and elements to plan. However, through the skill and expertise of the team, we worked hard to deliver on a successful event and look forward to using the knowledge gained from this experience for future event planning in 2024.

Internally, we have spent a significant amount of time this year finessing what is undoubtedly our USP – our messaging and brand development workshops. A core element of our business, the workshops have evolved alongside us, and are what we believe makes Hey Me stand out from the marketing communications crowd.

We also spent some time using our PR and communication skills to our own advantage, by rewriting and relaunching the Hey Me website. Arguably the front shop of any business, we felt it was time to take our own advice on board and craft a website with a strong story that showcases who we are and what we do, in a compelling and meaningful way. We hope those of you that visit our website get a strong sense of our brand identity and discover that you have a positive user experience when you navigate through the site.

This year has been, on reflection, a real pivotal moment in Hey Me’s journey. Navigating the fine line between growth and new opportunities, whilst retaining the brand values and the ethos that sits at the core of our business, can be a hard one to manage. However, this is something that we feel we have excelled at this year. We look forward to continuing to provide the clients we work with strategic and well executed marketing communications and more, in 2024.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from all the team at Hey Me!

“Since day one, Amy herself has fit seamlessly into our team, understanding the message we want to convey and the audiences we want to reach. Her upfront audit was invaluable in helping us internally hone our common voice, which has demonstrated itself in the consistency of the content we put out as a brand and as individuals within the company. Behind the scenes, Amy has instinctively adopted our internal communication methods (Slack, SharePoint) and works closely with our in-house graphic design team to ensure our graphics and copy are in sync.” Lucy Prior MBE - previously from 3Squared 2021
“After meeting Amy a few years ago, I was able to provide her with an opportunity to manage the comms on a major alliance, alongside Marie from Doodle HR, which she flourished at. Amy helped me to implement a more structured approach, freeing up my time to work more closely with clients and create new content. Hey Me are easy to deal with and quick to provide valuable solutions; I wouldn’t hesitate to work with Amy and the team again” Karen Duncan - Lanehead Coniston
“Working with Hey Me is very straight forward - they take you through whatever process is needed, with clear instruction and good ideas. Since working with Hey Me, Zak Mobility now has a strong brand identity and purposeful website that is fit for purpose. I would recommend Hey Me to other companies, as they do a professional job with a friendly face.” Sam Pearce - CEO, Zak Mobility
“As a member of the RIA SME Leadership team, Amy ran a slimdown version of the Hey Me messaging workshops in 2023. The workshops helped the team to delve deeper into what the SME group stood for, what it meant to them as individuals and businesses and what they wanted to gain from communications. By holding up a mirror to those in the group and using a tiered approach, the group was able to find a common purpose and with Hey Me's help, a common language which best represented the aims of the leadership team and our RIA SME members. The fantastic results of this can be seen in action on our SME page of our website.” Isabella Lawson - Railway Industry Association
