With the end of the UK lockdown (hopefully) on the horizon and restrictions easing, we can finally look forward to seeing the light at the end of the tunnel and returning to some form of normality. We can, at last, stop stockpiling loo roll, turn off Netflix and wave goodbye to Zoom quizzes once and for all.
As the country opens up and we start preparing ourselves for much-needed freedom, we thought it would be the perfect time to share what the Hey Me team is most excited about. So, without further ado, here is a round-up of what each us of are looking forward to the most.
Emma Lever, PR and Communications Manager
I am most looking forward to introducing my seven-month-old baby Felix to more friends and family and taking him on a wee trip to London to meet some more of my best friends and having a wee drink in Soho! I also can’t wait to start taking him to baby classes, so he can meet other babies and have the interaction that he’s missed out on.
I also can’t wait for a gig and some live music and finding some vintage gems at the charity shops once I’ve had my vaccine and feel a bit safer going out and about!
Amy Jeffs, Managing Director
I’m looking forward to seeing family and friends that I haven’t seen in nearly 18 months. Which also means I will eventually be able to celebrate my ‘lockdown’ wedding and meeting new babies for the first time.
Jen Derrick, Content and Copywriting Associate
I’m looking forward to giving family members a hug, for them to cuddle my little boy Noah, and finally seeing my niece and nephews for the first time in over a year! Also looking forward to finally being able to wear a nice outfit to a meal and going to several gigs that I’d had planned that got cancelled.
Amelia Spanton, Communications Assistant
I’m excited to be able to travel again within the UK and hopefully elsewhere sometime soon! Next week I’m going to Birmingham to celebrate my families’ birthdays and I’ll get to see my grandma for the first time after 18 months. It’s lovely to be able to reunite with family!
I am also looking forward to art galleries and museums reopening there are so many great ones in York!
Gemma Colley, PR and Communications Associate
I’m looking forward to meeting up with people and getting back to our natural way of greeting each other with a hug. I am also really looking forward to not having to wear a mask and being able to smile at people and see them smiling too.
There’s undoubtedly a lot to look forward once lockdown is over. While catching up on social activities remains a top priority, it’s evident that the most important thing we’ve all missed over the past few months is our family. Bring on the family reunions and long-awaited hugs!
